NorthEast United FC appoint Gerard Nus of Spain as new head coach!

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have appointed Spaniard Gerard Nus as new head coach ahead of the 2020/21 season.

35 year old Tarragona-born Gerard Nus Casanova started his coaching career as a teenager with the Espanyol Barcelona Academy.

At 22 he joined the Liverpool FC Academy before being assistant in the first team before joining Chunnam Dragons in South Korea, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Melbourne Heart and then the Ghana national team.

Thereafter he worked with Elche CF and Rayo Vallecano back in Spain before moving to the USA to be head coach of Rayo Oklahoma City in the NASL. Then he coached Kazakhstan Premier League side FC Irtysh Pavlodar before being AFC Eskilstuna’s Methodology Technical Director.

Now he moves to India to become one of the youngest coaches in the history of the ISL.

Gerard Nus said about his appointment, “I am excited to start working at NorthEast United FC. This is going to be my third stint in Asia and I have heard a lot of good things about the club, the fans and the league from my former boss Avram Grant. I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff and the players to deliver results which the club aspires to achieve in the coming season.”
