NorthEast United FC & Guwahati Sports Association tie up for Guwahati Youth & Kids League!

In a historic collaboration that is set to transform the landscape of football in Assam and the Northeast, NorthEast United FC and Guwahati Sports Association have announce the launch of the Guwahati Youth & Kids League.

The historic agreement was formally inked at the Guwahati Town Club auditorium on Monday, October 16 marking a pivotal moment for grassroots football development in the region.

The Guwahati Youth & Kids League aims to nurture young talents across various age groups, ranging from Under-7 to U-17, emphasizing grassroots football development.

NorthEast United FC, renowned for its expertise and commitment to football development, will partner with GSA, providing invaluable technical guidance and a well-structured platform for aspiring footballers to showcase their skills and catch the eye of scouts.

Expressing his enthusiasm about this ground-breaking collaboration, NorthEast United FC CEO Mandar Tamhane stated, “We want to create a pathway for the kids from the age of U-7 right up to the reserve team and the first team. This provides an opportunity for them to play a lot of games. I am very happy that we are able to partner with the Guwahati Sports Association for this initiative.”

GSA General Secretary Devajit Saikia shed light on the partnership’s details, saying, “The agreement will be for five years with further scope of extending the period of contract. We want to improve the football standard of Guwahati. NorthEast United FC have a wider perspective. For the Youth & Kids League, Guwahati Sports Association will provide the logistics and all other support and NorthEast United FC will provide all the technical expertise.”

The Guwahati Youth & Kids League will be structured into three categories, catering to different age groups and skill levels: Foundation Level: This category is designed for U-7 to U-9 participants, both boys and girls, engaging in a 5v5 format. Intermediate Level: Boys aged from U-11 to U-13 will compete in a 7v7 format, fostering their skills and teamwork. Advanced Level: Tailored for U-15 in a 9v9 & U-17 in 11v11 formats respectively, providing a more challenging and competitive environment.

NorthEast United FC head coach Juan Pedro Benali shared his insights on this initiative, stating, “It’s a great step taken by the GSA. To become a professional footballer, kids need to play more games, experience competition and cultivate a passion for sports. This provides a perfect platform for young talents to bloom.”

NorthEast United FC Assistant Coach and Head of Youth Development Naushad Moosa alongside Assam talents Parthib Gogoi and Gaurav Bora too graced the event in which the logo too was unveiled.
