NorthEast United FC score 2-0 win at FC Pune City!

NorthEast United FC continued their impressive run in ISL-5 with a 2-0 away win against FC Pune City at the Balewadi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Highlanders went ahead in the 23rd minute off a Bartholomew Ogbeche goal following a Federico Gallego goal. They had more chances to double their lead but towards the end of the first half hosts FC Pune City got better and they were denied a penalty when Gurwinder Singh touched the ball with his hand of an own deflection following a corner. At the break, NorthEast United FC were leading 1-0.

At the start of the second session, FC Pune City continued to put pressure on NorthEast United FC with substitute Marko Stankovic having the best chance to equalise but the hosts were just unable to score or the Highlanders were in the way.

NorthEast United FC were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, when Juan Mascia was brought down by defender Sahil Panwar and Mascia himself banged the penalty into the nets to seal a memorable 2-0 win for NorthEast United FC.

FC Pune City now have a tough away fixture at table toppers Bengaluru FC on November 30, while NorthEast United FC travel to Jamshedpur FC for their match on December 1.
