NorthEast United FC sign defender Ashutosh Mehta!

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of defender Ashutosh Mehta from Mohun Bagan ahead of the 2020/21 season.

28 year old Mumbai-born Ashutosh Mehta, a youth product for former I-League side Mumbai FC, where he also had his senior debut in 2011. He would spend five seasons with the club, the last few months on loan from Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC after a loan spell with FC Pune City for ISL-1.

In 2017, Ashutosh left Mumbai for the first-time to move to the Northeast to join Aizawl FC and his former Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil. Ashu had a very successful season which ended by sensationally lifting the 2016/17 I-League.

Thereafter Ashutosh moved to ATK for ISL-4 before moving back to Maharashtra to join FC Pune City for a second time in ISL-5. For the 2019/20 season, Ashu returned to the I-League to sign for Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and he went on to lift his second I-League title.

Ashutosh Metha said, “I’m very excited to be a part of NorthEast United FC for the coming season. As always, I’m going to start working with the mentality to win. I hope together, we can make this season a special one. I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and celebrate this beautiful game.”

Now Ashutosh joins NorthEast United FC and there he would link-up with NEUFC assistant coach Khalid Jamil for a third time.
