OCAC Chairperson praises readiness of Asian Cup 2023 venues!

The Organising Committee of AFC Asian Cup (OCAC) Chairperson Mariano V. Araneta Jr. has today hailed the readiness of the world-class venues ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 opener between defending champions Qatar and Lebanon at the Lusail Stadium on Friday.

Speaking at an onsite inspection visit at the spectacular 88,000-capacity Lusail Stadium, which will also set the stage for the Final on 10 February, OCAC Chairperson Mariano V. Araneta Jr. said: “Few venues in world football are as iconic as the Lusail Stadium and I am confident that the players, teams and fans will witness an exceptional celebration that will set the tone for the entire duration of the competition.

“This is the first AFC Asian Cup to be hosted in FIFA World Cup venues and the seamless connectivity and world-class infrastructure in Qatar will ensure that we will experience the most accessible edition of Asia’s crown jewel to date.”

“We have to praise the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organising Committee and Qatari authorities for their immaculate hosting capabilities. From the moment you land in Qatar, the sense of excitement is palpable and so much of that is a tribute to our incredible host,” he added.

Sharing insights into his experience since his arrival, Chairperson Mariano V. Araneta Jr. continued: “From the city dressing across Doha to the top level facilities and warm hospitality of the Qatari people, I have every faith this competition will live up to its slogan of ‘Hayya Asia’ and rally the Asian football community like never before.

“It is truly remarkable what we have been able to achieve in just 14 short months since awarding the AFC Asian Cup hosting rights to Qatar. Thanks to the concerted efforts and close coordination between the LOC and the AFC, we are now in the best possible position to provide the optimum conditions for our players, teams and officials to showcase their undeniable talent.”

Chairperson Mariano V. Araneta Jr. concluded by adding: “Qatar is ready, Asia is ready. Now the wait is finally over, and we can all look forward to 30 days of exhilarating action that will reinforce the rising standards of Asian football.”
