Odisha FC draw East Bengal FC in Super Cup Group B tie!

Odisha FC and East Bengal FC play out a 1-1 draw in Manjeri in an entertaining Super Cup showdown on Sunday evening.

The Eastern Dragons started the game brightly, with some good attacking moves and ball possession. They had a couple of chances to score in the early minutes of the game but were denied by the East Bengal FC custodian.

In the 38th minute, the Red & Gold Brigade finally broke the deadlock when Mobashir Rahman found the back of the net with a well-placed shot. The goal was a result of a defensive error, which set up Mobashir with a perfect opportunity to put the ball beyond Amrinder Singh’s reach and into the back of the net.

In the second half, Clifford Miranda’s men came out with more intent and started to pile on the pressure on the East Bengal FC defence. They created a few good opportunities to score but were unable to convert them into goals.

However, in the 73rd minute, Odisha FC finally managed to equalize when Nandhakumar scored courtesy of a marauding run by Diego Mauricio into the East Bengal FC defence who cut it back for the winger to slot it home. Kamaljit Singh had no chance as the ball went past him into the net.

After the equalizer, both teams continued to push forward, looking for a winner. However, neither side was able to find the back of the net, and the match ended with both sides sharing the spoils.
Diego Mauricio was named the Hero of the Match.

The Eastern Dragons will take on Aizawl FC on April 13 in Manjeri. The match has been scheduled for a 5pm IST kick-off and you can watch the Super Cup live on Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 2 HD & FanCode.
