The Odisha FC Women suffered their first loss of the season in a hard-fought match against Kickstart FC in their second Group B match of the Indian Women’s League 2023 at the Shahibaug Police Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 30.
Despite a strong start with a clear advantage on goal in the 20th minute, Anju was fouled by an opponent defender, and the referee called the goal back. Bala Devi took the resulting free-kick but unfortunately, the effort went in vain as the ball hit the wall.
In the 35th minute, Kickstart FC took the lead, and despite the Juggernauts’ efforts, they were unable to level the score. In the 75th minute, Kickstart FC doubled their lead with a powerful header, securing their win and the three points.
However, Odisha FC displayed great spirit and determination throughout the match. While there is still a long way to go, The Eastern Dragons are dedicated to maintaining that fighting spirit and carrying it forward.
