Odisha FC travel to face Mohun Bagan SG in AFC Cup!

After the international break, Odisha FC are back in action today as the Kalinga Warriors have traveled to Kolkata to face Mohun Bagan SG in the AFC Cup.

Sergio’s men have picked up three back-to-back wins on the bounce prior to the pause in domestic action and will be hoping to continue the same form once more in Monday’s 19:30 IST kick-off.

The Mariners, meanwhile, are coming into this game on the back of an AFC Cup loss against Bashundhara Kings in Dhaka.

Ahead of today’s all-important fixture, here are the key things you need to know about our trip to Kolkata…

Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera has been handed a major boost with Givson Singh being available for selection ahead of tonight’s encounter. Amrinder Singh has joined the squad post-completion of his national team duties.

The Spanish tactician reported no injury concerns ahead of tonight’s encounter. Lobera added, “We are very excited coming into this game. This is a very good opportunity for us to show everyone that we are ready for this kind of challenge.”

The Kalinga Warriors will eye redemption from the reverse fixture in Bhubaneswar. Two back-to-back wins against Maziya S&RC have put Sergio’s Odisha FC just a point behind the Mariners in Group D of the AFC Cup.

The Mariners suffered significant blows to their AFC Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw, and a 1-2 loss to Bashundhara Kings. Qualification seems complicated for Juan’s side as a result of dropping points. Injury concerns loom over the Kolkata Giants with Manvir Singh, Dimi Petratos, Anwar Ali, and Ashique ruled out for the game tonight.

“It is a very important game as both the teams have the opportunity to go to the next round. It is going to be a tough match. They have very good players, but our target is to win the match and better our chances.” expressed Juan Ferrando at the pre-match press conference in Kolkata.

Monday’s 19:30 IST kick-off will be broadcast live on Sports18 and live-streamed on FanCode.
