Paris Saint-Germain announce Thomas Tuchel as new head coach!

French Ligue 1 giants FC Paris Saint-Germain today announced the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as head coach of their professional first team. The German technician signed a two-year contract with the champions of France to replace Spaniard Unai Emery.

At the age of 27, the native of Krumbach, Bavaria, began his coaching career at the head of the VfB Stuttgart youth teams. In 2009, Thomas Tuchel took on the management of a professional group for the first time, taking the reins of 1.FSV Mainz 05. A team he will lead for five seasons in the Bundesliga.

A fan of offensive, dynamic football and a strong tactical record, he becomes one of the most innovative and well-educated coaches in Germany. In 2015, he was chosen by Borussia Dortmund. In two seasons on the bench of BVB, Thomas Tuchel managed 108 matches and won the 2017 German DFB Cup by pursuing with conviction the same guideline, that of a collective game focused on creativity, combativeness and competitiveness. A conception of football that is now internationally recognized by the greatest professionals in our sport.

Now 44 years old, the German manager will begin his mission in Paris in early July, on the occasion of the resumption of training.

“It is with great joy, pride and ambition that I join this great world football club that is Paris Saint-Germain,” responded Thomas Tuchel, after the signing of his contract. “I look forward to working with all these great players, all of whom are among the best on the planet. With my staff, we will do everything to help the team push their limits to the highest international level. There is extraordinary potential in Paris and this is the most exciting challenge that has come to me. I am also looking forward to discovering Parc des Princes, a legendary European football stadium with a fantastic atmosphere.”

“I am very happy to welcome Thomas Tuchel as the new Paris Saint-Germain coach,” said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain. “Thomas is one of the most competitive European coaches to have emerged at the highest level in recent years. It is strongly imbued with the spectacular and efficient principles that have always nourished the strength of German football, especially on the international scene. His ambitious personality, his assertive taste for forward-moving play and his strength of character are part of the style we have always heard at Paris Saint-Germain. This style that fans of our Club, of all times, have always looked for and admired.”
