Rene Maric joins Bayern Munich in newly created position!

FC Bayern Munich has appointed René Marić as team lead coaching development and playing philosophy. In this newly created position, the 31-year-old will strengthen the interface between the FC Bayern Campus and Säbener Straße. Marić most recently worked as assistant head coach at English Premier League (and now Championship) club Leeds United.

FC Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said, “We’re delighted to have brought in René Marić for the new position of team lead coaching development and playing philosophy at our FC Bayern Campus. René’s skilled work at Salzburg caught our eye early on and he was able to further his development in the Bundesliga at Dortmund and Mönchengladbach, as well as in the Premier League at Leeds United. He’ll provide us with some new and important impetus.”

Marić gained his first coaching experience at a professional football club in the youth setup at Red Bull Salzburg, where the Austrian earned promotion to the first-team coaching staff by winning the 2016/17 Youth League final. After winning two Austrian championships, he took up the post of assistant to head coach Marco Rose, first at Borussia Mönchengladbach and later at Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga. At the beginning of his career, Marić also worked as a sports consultant for Bayer Leverkusen and FSV Mainz 05, among others.
