Robin Yadav on target as Bengaluru FC Colts snatch late win against FC Deccan!

A late header from defender Robin Yadav (90+4′) gave Jan van Loon’s Bengaluru FC side a 1-0 win over FC Deccan, in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Thursday. The win marked the Blue Colts’ fourth in five games, handing them 12 points.

Both sides started with the intention of controlling possession and building from the back, in what remained a cagey affair for most parts. The first real chance fell to Sudheer Kotikala when he was put through on goal by Blue Colts’ midfielder Damaitphang Lyngdoh, but his effort went just wide of the post.

At the half an hour mark, Lyngdoh put in another delightful long ball for striker Monirul Molla, who found himself in a dangerous position. The striker took a touch to compose himself, but his shot on target was saved by FC Deccan ‘keeper Jithu TR. Only moments later, another long ball for Molla led to defender Sohail T putting in a dangerous tackle, prompting referee Suresh Devaraj to brandish a red card.

Down to ten men with a majority of the game left to play, the Blues upped the tempo only for Jithu to pull some fantastic saves to keep the scores level heading into the break. At the restart, Bengaluru were caught offside twice and struggled to convert chances that came their way. Pushing hard for the three points, Bekey Oram’s corner in the dying embers of the game found Robin unmarked in the box, and the defender nodded it with power beyond Jithu to claim the points.

The Blue Colts now pick up 12 points from five games, winning four out of five.
