Roy Krishna extends stay with ISL champions ATK!

Fiji captain Roy Krishna announced on social media today that he would remain for another season with Indian Super League champions ATK.

Indian origin Roy Krishna had come to Kolkata last summer from Australian A-League side Wellington Phoenix, where he played the last five season and in his last season in the A-League, Roy Krishna won the golden-boot award and the Johnny Warren medal of the A-League.

32 year old Labasa-born Roy Krishna in his social media post wrote, “I’m very pleased to extend my contract with my club again. After a successful season winning the 2019-20 Hero ISL, there’s no question that I want to stay with the Champion team. I had a wonderful first year both on and off the field in Kolkata. Everyone including the players, management and fans made me and my family feel very welcomed. It was my first experience of India and I’ve really enjoyed my time away even though it’s very far from familiar grounds. Kolkata is an amazing city with lovely people and it’s now a second home for me,” the 32-year-old striker said after signing a new one-year contract extension.”

“I’m looking forward to returning to India and getting back to training under the guidance of coach (Antonio Lopez) Habas. I’m also excited to reunite with my teammates in Kolkata. I am also very excited about the merger of ATK and Mohun Bagan. Hopefully, the borders reopen in time for the pre-season trainings,” he added.
