I spoke for rs1tv with the city council member Thomas Neuhaus and sports council president Reinhard Ulbrich about the problems between the two bodies in finding a consensus in working together in the interest of Remscheid.
Remscheid is currently awaiting political clearance to build a Designer Outlet Center (DOC) on the premises of the old football stadium (Röntgenstadion) in Lennep and with this new city development program, the teams playing at the stadium and at an adjacent ground would have to shift to another location (Hackenberg), which already has a club in SG Hackenberg. In the redevelopment plans the clubs put in a small amount of money and own efforts to support the redevelopment of grounds, but this one being a big one normally would have meant that this fee would have been waived.
Bei der neusten Sitzung des Remscheider Sportausschusses gestern Nachmittag wurde wieder deutlich das es Probleme zwischen Verwaltung/Politik und Sportbund gibt. Dazu sprachen wir mit dem zuständigen Dezernenten Thomas Neuhaus und dem Sportbund Vorsitzenden Reinhard Ulbrich. Auf einen gemeinsamen Nenner kommen beide Seiten wohl nicht so schnell.
Desweiteren soll neu geprüft werden, ob die drei vom DOC-Bau betroffenen Vereine (FC Remscheid, SG Hackenberg, VfL Lennep) ihren Eigenanteil am Um- und Neubau am Hackenberg leisten müssen oder nicht.
