Former champions Salgaocar FC just about maintained their I-League status due to a better head-to-head record with promoted Aizawl FC, who were relegated at the end of the 2016 I-League campaign.
Now their head coach Santosh Kashyap has parted ways with the Greens following an I-League campaign to forget though Kashyap came in during the season and saved it for the club by avoiding relegation.
