Salgaocar FC launches eighth edition of its Community Outreach Program!

Salgaocar FC launched the eighth edition of its Community Outreach Program on Sunday, October 23 at the Chicalim Panchayat ground for children aged 6-11 years.

The Program saw a flood of registrations even after a break of two years due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The dignitaries present for the launch were Salgaocar FC’s President – Shivanand Salgaocar; Vice-President, Youth Development – Swati Salgaocar; General Secretary – Adlear D’Cruz; GFA executive member Mormugao zone – Francisco Nunes; and Head Coach – Levino Anthony Pereira.

On this occasion Shivanand Salgaocar said, “Despite a gap of two years it’s good to see parents with their children on a Sunday which could easily be enjoyed at home. The support of the community and Chicalim Panchayat has made it possible for us to fulfill our vision of community building through football.”

Swati Salgaocar declared the event open and addressed the gathering. She said, “Youth development and especially grassroots football has always been a top priority for Salgaocar FC so it’s a great validation to have parents and kids show up in great numbers after a 2 year pause due to the pandemic.The primary aim of the Club is to promote local talent and our Community Outreach Program is the perfect way to encourage young footballers.”

Parents informed that they were looking forward to this program and were awaiting the beginning of the Program as the Children were excited to be on the ground and enjoy the activities.

Children were divided in groups on multiple small grounds to demonstrate various fun drills and basic football skills under the guidance of qualified coaches.

The Program will be conducted every Sunday till March 2023. There will also be information sessions on health and nutrition regularly held for parents by Experts and specialist from SMRC’s V.M. Salgaocar Hospital in Chicalim.
