Bundesliga side SC Freiburg has extended head coach Christian Streich’s contract. Streich, who celebrated his 55th birthday on Thursday, June 11 has been the head coach at the club since 2011, eclipsing 316 competitive games as manager. Streich has also been a coach at the club since 1995.
“We’re so happy to be able to continue down this path with Christian Streich. He lives for this team and he shares all the same philosophies that we do,” said SCF sporting director Jochen Saier.
His coaching staff, including Patrick Baier, Lars Voßler, Florian Bruns, Andreas Kronenberg und Daniel Wolf will also be staying with the club. “Christian and his team have brought real quality, heart and spirit to our club.”
Christian Streich said in an interview with us, “We didn’t have to negotiate for long, because I’m in such a special situation to be able to be at this club. I’m not saying it’s better than everywhere else, but it’s somewhere special to me. I’m really looking forward to developing m relationship with these players out on the pitch and improving year on year.”
