Schalke 04 sign goalkeeper Marius Müller!

Marius Müller has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the 2024/25 season. The goalkeeper joins from FC Luzern and will wear the number 32 for the Royal Blues. Müller has featured in 72 Bundesliga 2 and 120 Swiss Super League games so far, and will become the fourth goalkeeper within the S04 squad. The details of the transfer will remain undisclosed.

“Marius is an experienced player who will lend a lot of quality to our goalkeeping team,” said André Hechelmann. “Justin Heekeren’s recovery is going well after his serious knee injury, and he has put in a lot of hard work. We want to give him the time he needs to get back to 100%, which is now possible due to Marius joining us.”

“I’m very pleased with the goalkeepers we have in our squad. Ralf Fährmann showed what he’s capable of last season. Justin is meant to challenge him, but still needs some time after his injury. Michi Langer is an important figure in our daily training. In Marius, we are adding someone with a positive attitude, solid presence and strong communication skills,” said head coach Thomas Reis.

“Schalke are a big club who are known for the special atmosphere their fans create. I’m really looking forward to experiencing this myself,” Müller said. “I want to give everything as part of the team in order to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves this season.”

The Heppenheim native began his career at TV 1883 Lampertheim, before joining the 1.FC Kaiserslautern academy in 2003. He featured 72 times in the second division for FCK and was capped three times with the Germany U-20s. The goalkeeper joined RB Leipzig in summer 2016 before moving to Switzerland in 2019. He featured in 139 competitive games for FC Luzern, where he won the Swiss Cup in 2021.
