Sevilla FC strengthen their ties to Morocco!

Sevilla FC continue to strengthen its ties with Morocco. The clubs Vice-President, José Castro, visited the country this week to take advantage of the participation of one of the clubs under-19 teams in the U19 AMF Tournament organised by the Mohammed VI Football Academy.

The club has wanted to delve deeper into local football culture, having already developed a close relationship due to the success of Moroccan players such as Youseff En-Nesyri, Yassine Bono, or Munir El-Haddadi.

The visit has served to consolidate the relationship through a meeting with the president of Union Sportive Yacoub El Mansour, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid. The clubs Vice-President has also held a meeting with his counterpart from Sporting Club Casablanca, Amine Benjelloun, the newly crowned runner-up of the CAF Women’s Champions League, with a potential friendly between the women’s team.

A visit was also made to Mohammed V University in Rabat where more meetings took place discussing further possible collaboration opportunities.

The delegation from the club were also able to visit the facilities at the Mohammed VI Football Academy and residence, the venue for the U19 AMF Tournament, which has been converted into a High Performance Centre for the development of footballers, where Youssef En-Nesyri, after whom one of the Academy’s football pitches is named, took his first steps in the sporting world.

The club’s visit has generated significant media coverage in the country, where various media outlets are covering the tournament, which is broadcast on public television STNR, which has also produced a report on the club’s connections and joint projects with Morocco. In fact, Sevilla FC have an ever-growing fanbase in the country, with almost 1.3 million Moroccan followers across the clubs social media accounts.

On the pitch Sevilla FC under-19 side did well to reach the semifinals of the AMF Tournament, only losing in a penalty shootout against Ajax Amsterdam. On their run, they beat the Aspire Academy Liverpool and RC Strasbourg.
