Shaikh Salman underlines AFC’s commitment to strengthen football in North Korea!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa today met with the DPR Korea Football Association (DPRK FA) Vice President and AFC Executive Committee Member Han Un Gyong, on the sidelines of the AFC Annual Awards Doha 2022.

The AFC President reiterated the AFC’s support in elevating the standards of football in DPR Korea while also commended the efforts of the DPRK FA, most notably the performances of its women’s team who clinched the silver medal at the recently concluded Hangzhou Asian Games in China.

“DPR Korea Football Association has made tremendous strides in growing the game at the grassroots level and their age-group and women’s teams have consistently proven themselves as amongst the best, not just at the Continental level, but also across the globe in recent times,” said the AFC President.

“Having visited DPR Korea in November 2018, I have experienced firsthand the passion that exists for the beautiful game in the country, and I am confident that under the leadership of President Yun Jong Ho, the game will reach new heights.

“The AFC has outlined its Vision of ensuring football remains the number one sport on the Continent and we are resolute in our desire to ensure we unlock the full potential of our great game in DPR Korea,” added Shaikh Salman.

Han Un Gyong expressed her gratitude to the AFC President for his continued support and outlined her confidence in further deepening the spirit of partnership between the AFC and the DPRK FA.
