Soccerex announce Final Conference Line up for Soccerex China!

Soccerex have confirmed the final line up for their Soccerex China programme which includes some of the most important stakeholders in the Chinese and wider Asian football industry, such as adidas, Ajax, AS Roma, Barcelona, Bytedance, City Football Group, PP Sports, Shandong Luneng Taishan, Wanda Sports, Xinhua News and many more.
The two-day football business event will take place on May 23-24 in Hainan and is hosted in partnership with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Chinese Football Association (CFA) and Chinese Super League (CSL).

The programme for Soccerex China will kick off with an opening ceremony that includes a speech from CFA Executive Vice President and General Secretary, Zhang Jian. Following the recent announcement of their MOU with FIFA to enhance football structures, management and technical aspects related to football in China, his speech will provide a timely update on the development of football in the country.

The development of the game in China – both on and off the pitch – will be addressed through the participation of leading experts from organizations such as CSL’s Shandong Luneng Taishan FC, Wanda Sports, PP Sports, Xinhua News, People’s Sport and Bytedance.

Wanda Sports China CEO, David Yang and PP Sports Vice President, Zeng Gang will lead a discussion about the importance of commercial rights in China’s sports economy alongside, DDMC Fortis CEO, Patrick Murphy, in what will be one of the business focused highlights of the first morning.

Football media will also be on the agenda with Xinhua News Deputy Director, Zhou Jie speaking alongside Yuang Peng, Director of Football, People’s Sport, Tristan Chen, Founder & General Manager of Hupu Anchor and the esteemed football commentator Liu Jianhong in a discussion about the future of football media following the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

In addition, the intricacies of China’s digital landscape and how it can best be utilised will be tackled in a discussion that sees Rio Li, Senior Manager of Sports Business Development, Bytedance – the company behind one of the fastest growing social media channel globally – speaking alongside senior figures from AS Roma and adidas and the agent of Arsenal’s Mesut Özil.

On the pitch, Shandong Luneng Taishan FC’s Technical Director, Daniel Stenz will be sharing his insights into what goes into achieving peak performance with a special look at the proprietary software he has developed at the club to improve performance analysis. Joining Daniel on the programme will be coaching experts from German title contenders Borussia Dortmund and Dutch side Ajax, who have so impressed in this year’s UEFA Champion’s League.

Spain’s LaLiga are partners of the event and will be playing a significant role in the programme. Carlos Casal, Senior Specialist in Sport Projects Development will share his insights into grassroots and coach education, while Sergi Torrents, Managing Director of Greater China will provide an in-depth look at the league’s approach to China.

International development strategies will feature heavily in the programme with Bundesliga’s new Head of China, Patrick Stüber talking about their activities in market, which includes a new office in Beijing and FC Barcelona’s Managing Director – APAC, Jordi Camps kicking off a club double header, talking about how the club engages with its many Chinese fans, including a look at the Barca Experience Haikou, an interactive 4,000 m2 museum and a large megastore, as well as a Barça Academy Pro with six pitches.

In the second part of the club cases studies session, City Football Group’s new CEO for China, Scott Munn will be sharing insights into the varied activities of the group in China, including plans for their new Chinese franchise, Sichuan Jiuniu FC. Scott will also be discussing Man City’s Chinese esports team as part of a session focusing on the synergies between football and FIFA Online alongside EA Sports Director, Business Strategy – Competitive Gaming Division, Edward Chang.

As at all Soccerex events, delegates will get to hear from some of the greatest names to have played the game and Soccerex China will be no different with former Brazil international and UEFA Champions League winner with FC Barcelona, Juliano Belletti joining France legend, Jean Pierre Papin for a look at the player’s perspective on modern football.
