Spain’s Thiago Alcantara extends his Bayern Munich contract by two years until 2021!

German Bundesliga record champions FC Bayern Munich earlier today announced the contract extension of Spanish international Thiago Alcántara until June 2021.

Thiago, who joined the Bavarians from Catalan giants FC Barcelona in summer 2013 as the wish signing of then coach Pep Guardiola, has evolved as a player at the club over the last four years. In his first three seasons under Guardiola, Thiago has had a lot of injuries but finally this season he has been able to prove in midfield his value for the team and the club across different positions.

His original contract was supposed to run out in 2019, but now with the extension until 2021, Thiago commits himself to the German side despite interest from his former club FC Barcelona and other top European clubs.

“Thiago is one of the best and most coveted midfielders in Europe,” said FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “We’re very pleased as a club to be able to secure the services of such an amazing player for the long term.”

Thiago himself also appeared very happy at the contract signing at the clubs Säbener Straße, “My family and I feel at home in Munich. Everything is going well here, and I want to win a lot of trophies here with FC Bayern in the future.”

The announcement of Thiago’s contract extension came after the club confirmed that they would buy to keep French winger Kingsley Coman at the club until 2020.
