Sporting Clube de Goa defeat Vasco SC in Goa Pro League!

Sporting Clube de Goa defeated Vasco SC by 2-0 scoreline in a Goa Professional League match played at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Thursday.

Victorino Fernandes and Abiola Afuwape were the goalscorers for Sporting Clube de Goa.

Both Vasco SC and Sporting Clube de Goa started the match with midfield action as both the sides looked to retain the ball. In the initial minutes of the match, Sporting Clube de Goa’s Sodiq Ibrahim tried to score a goal but was unsuccessful as he attempt went wide, however, in the 9th minute, Sporting Clube de Goa’s Victorino Fernandes slotted the ball home through a spell-bound free-kick to give his side the desired lead.

Vasco SC player Clive Coelho tried his best not to give up and showed positive attitude towards the match but did not have any luck as he missed a couple of opportunities at the goal.

The best chance to level terms for Vasco SC came in the 44th minute however Schubert Pereira missed a sitter which left the Portowners disappointed as they went into the breather with the scoreboard reading 1-0 in favour of the Flaming Oranje.

Sporting Clube de Goa looked revitalized post the half-time break as they looked to score more and managed to get past the rival defence in the 60th minute as Abiola Afuwape headed home a brilliant cross by Daryl Costa.

This did not stop Vasco SC as they kept their positive attitude and continued the game with intention to thrive against Sporting Club De Goa however the Portowners fumbled at the goalmouth thus the match ending with a 2-0 result in favour of the Panjim-based Sporting Clube de Goa.
