After winning their last four games, Sreenidi Deccan FC will aim to continue their streak as they take on Sudeva Delhi FC in a Matchday 18 I-League game at the Deccan Arena on Sunday. The Deccan Warriors are currently at the top of the standings while Sudeva Delhi lie at the bottom.
Head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and midfielder Stanislas Ankira addressed the media ahead of the game and the former was pleased with the win against Rajasthan United FC in the previous game. “It is always important to win as it gives us confidence to keep going but tomorrow is a new match and we are looking forward to it,” he said.
Sreenidi Deccan defeated Sudeva Delhi 3-0 in December but since then, Sudeva Delhi have changed their coaching staff and also put up some points on the board. “They are motivated after defeating Mumbai Kenkre last time and they have changed their game model somewhat but as always, we will focus on our game and plan accordingly,” said Vaz Pinto. “We will not look at the table but at the characteristics of the opponents and respect their quality.”
Congolese midfielder Ankira joined Sreenidi Deccan in the January transfer window and has since established himself in the Deccan Warriors’ engine room. “Since I have come here, everyone has helped me settle in well and that has helped me focus on the objectives of the team and tomorrow’s game against Sudeva Delhi is another test for us,” he said.
The match will kick off at 3pm IST on Sunday, February 19 and will be telecast live on Eurosport India, DD Sports and the Discovery+ App.
