Sreenidi Deccan FC aim to recapture form against TRAU FC!

Sreenidi Deccan FC will aim to rediscover their winning formula as they face TRAU FC in a Matchweek 5 I-League clash at the Kalyani Stadium on Sunday, November 19. The Deccan Warriors drew 2-2 against Shillong Lajong last time out and lost 1-2 at home to Aizawl FC before that.

Sreenidi Deccan FC head Coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and defender Shahabaaz addressed the media ahead of the clash in a virtual press conference held via Zoom.

“It is very early in the season to say if we lost two points or gained one point in a draw as I believe all teams are capable of defeating each other on any given day,” said Vaz Pinto. “These things will be taken into account at the end of the season when we look at the league table and there is a long way to go for that.”

After naming an unchanged side for the first three matches, Vaz Pinto made two changes against Shillong Lajong – handing full debuts to midfielders Ibrahim Sissoko and Lalnuntluanga who came in for Faysal Shayesteh and Lalromawia. “It was a tactical decision to make those changes as we felt their profiles were more suited to play against Shillong Lajong but it also shows the competition we have for positions and I am considering more changes against TRAU,” he said.

Left-back Shahabaaz started his career with TRAU before joining Sreenidi Deccan FC in 2021 and having started the previous season in good form, he suffered an injury which ruled him out for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign. “I am looking forward to facing my old club and if given a chance, I will give my best to put in a good performance,” he said. “I have received great support from the staff here at Sreenidi Deccan to aid my recovery and I feel ready to get back onto the field.”

The match will kick off at 4:30pm IST and will be telecast live on Eurosport India, the Indian Football YouTube channel and the FanCode App.
