Sreenidi Deccan FC host out-of-form Rajasthan United FC in I-League!

Having handed TRAU FC their first home defeat of the season in Imphal, Sreenidi Deccan FC return to Hyderabad to host struggling Rajasthan United FC in a Matchday 17 I-League clash here at the Deccan Arena on Sunday. The reverse fixture saw the Deccan Warriors lose 0-1 to the Desert Warriors in January.

Sreenidi Deccan FC head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and midfielder Faysal Shayesteh addressed the media ahead of the game. Vaz Pinto was pleased with the way his side prepared for the previous match against TRAU FC and stressed on the importance of the result. “It is difficult to travel to the north-east and get positive results but we planned well and managed to get the three points against a team of really good players,” he said.

Shayesteh echoed his coach’s thoughts on getting a vital away win from the previous game. “To become the first team to get three points at TRAU showed that we are on the right track and it was a very important win for us,” he said.

Rajasthan United are the only team to have stopped Sreenidi Deccan from scoring a goal this season but Vaz Pinto was confident of continuing his side’s 3-game winning streak. “They lost some players in the transfer window but their style has not changed much. Also, they are in an uncomfortable position in the table so they will fight for the points but we will try and play our way of football like always,” he said.

Sreenidi Deccan have won all of their home matches this season bar one (3-3 draw against Aizawl in December) and Shayesteh was in no mood to let up. “We cannot accept teams coming here and take points off us which is why thinking of the Aizawl game still hurts. We want to win every game at home and tomorrow is no exception,” he concluded.

The match will kick off at 3pm IST on Sunday, February 12 and will be telecast live on Eurosport India, DD Sports and the Discovery+ App.
