Sreenidi Deccan FC host Real Kashmir FC in final I-League home game of season!

Sreenidi Deccan FC will conclude their home campaign of the I-League 2022-23 season with a Matchday 21 clash against Real Kashmir FC at the Deccan Arena on Sunday. The Deccan Warriors have won eight and drawn one of their nine previous home matches and will aim to keep that unbeaten record intact against the Snow Leopards who defeated them 2-1 in Srinagar earlier in the season.

Head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and goalkeeper Jaspreet Singh addressed the media ahead of the clash. “We need to keep our mentality, be strong and focus on the next match which is against Real Kashmir whom we have to respect,” said Vaz Pinto. “We have confirmed second place in the league but the club needs to keep growing so we need to have focus on that aspect as well.”

Real Kashmir FC appointed Gifton Noel Williams as their Technical Director in January and they are unbeaten in their last five matches. “I like the way their coach has changed their style of play and I feel they have grown as a team recently,” said Vaz Pinto. “We know it will be difficult but we are prepared and aiming for all three points.”

Injuries have kept goalkeeper Jaspreet Singh out of action for the majority of the season but the 23-year-old played for Sreenidi Deccan in the ongoing Stafford Cup in Bangalore. “My body and confidence had taken a hit after injuries at the beginning of the season but playing competitive football again has given me back that confidence and rhythm as well and I hope that continues,” he said.

The match will kick off at 3pm IST on Sunday, March 5 and will be telecast live on Eurosport India, DD Sports and the Discovery+ App.
