Sreenidi Deccan FC take on Churchill Brothers in I-League clash!

Matchday 15 of the I-League will see Sreenidi Deccan FC host Churchill Brothers at the Deccan Arena on Saturday. The Deccan Warriors triumphed 3-2 against the Red Machines the last time these two teams met in Goa. Sreenidi Deccan FC are currently second in the I-League standings while Churchill Brothers are in fifth place.

Sreenidi Deccan FC assistant coach Birendra Thapa and defender Shahabaaz addressed the media ahead of the match. Thapa acknowledged that the team needed to keep their focus till the end after surviving a fightback from NEROCA FC in a 3-2 win last time out. “We played well and were leading 3-0 but conceded a couple of easy goals. We got three important points in the end but the boys know they have to maintain their focus right until the final whistle,” he said.

Left-back Shahabaaz echoed Thapa’s sentiments and has called for the Deccan Warriors to maintain their performance levels. “The three points were important from the last match but we need to try and keep the ball more in the latter stages to try and close out such games,” he said. “The team is playing well but we are focusing on each match as it comes.”

“We know Churchill Brothers are a good team, especially in the attacking areas but we are prepared and will go for the win,” concluded Thapa.

The match will kick off at 2pm IST and will be telecast live on Eurosport India, DD Sports and the Discovery+ App.
