The teams of Super Stars and LPS Tsunami FC put on an incredible showing in the U-13 category of the Jamshedpur Golden Baby League on Sunday, resulting in a 2-2 draw and a share of the spoils.
Week 15 of the tournament was witness to many matches, but a high level of intensity and passion was witnessed in the sweltering heat as the two teams went to battle, with nothing to separate them in the end.
The second edition of the Jamshedpur Golden Baby League 2023, hosted by Jamshedpur FC in conjunction with Jharkhand Football Association (JFA) and Jharkhand Sporting Association (JSA) has been divided into U-5, U-7, U-9, U-11 and U-13 categories for the benefit of kids across the city.
The 10-month long tournament will be held every Sunday morning at the Archery ground at JRD Tata Sports Complex to nurture development and add to the existing grassroots schools program run by the club during the week after school hours.
A total of 243 students turned up for the Baby League on Sunday, and were supported by the presence of dignitaries from Tata Steel’s Sports Department.
Hemant Gupta, Head of Sports at Tata Steel, and Dr. Hassan Imam Mallick, International Handball Coach and Head Coach at Tata Steel Handball Training Centre, graced the occasion with their presence and interacted with the kids before their matches.
The highest number of students on the day was witnessed in the U-9s this week, as 59 students participated, while 58 appeared in the U-11s, 58 in the U-13s, 42 in the U-7s and 26 students in the U-5 category.
The U-5s, U-9s and U-7s played four matches each while U-11s and U-13s played three matches each.
