Thomas Tuchel on Bayern Munich, A huge challenge & great anticipation!

Thomas Tuchel is the new head coach at FC Bayern Munich. The 49-year-old signed a contract with the German record champions until June 30, 2025 on Friday evening. After inking the deal, Tuchel and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić examined his new workplace, including the performance centre at Säbener Straße.

Before he supervises his first training session as the German record champions’ new head coach next Monday, Tuchel introduced himself on Saturday at a press conference with CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić.

“It’s an honour and a distinction to be approached by FC Bayern. My express thanks for the trust placed in me go to Oliver Kahn, Hasan Salihamidžić, Herbert Hainer and Uli Hoeneß,” said Tuchel. “When you work abroad for a while, you become even more aware of the importance of FC Bayern. The club’s DNA involves a commitment. Bayern is about winning, also about the way of winning. The squad is one of the most talented and best squads in Europe. I’m really looking forward to working with this squad. You’re a contender for every trophy with these players. It’s also a big commitment.”

“There’s no need to discuss his qualities, they’re impressive. His career is also a testament to that,” said Kahn. “It’s an impressive CV. There’s real personal development behind it. That’s why we’re very happy that Thomas Tuchel is now our coach.”

“We came to the conclusion that we need a coach like this, who’s gained a lot of experience, also abroad. We met and had a very good conversation,” said sporting director Salihamidžić. “He was very excited from the first second. Thomas really wanted to sign, we were totally convinced and quickly achieved a result.”
