Tottenham Hotspur Global coaches deliver coaching session in Mumbai!

Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles joined Tottenham Hotspurs Global Football Development coaching team in a special session for young people from underprivileged communities in Mumbai.

Tottenham Hotspur legends and Club Ambassadors – 634 appearances and three trophies between them – brought some Spurs joy to the session run by Nick Hardy and Sabrina Dias of the Tottenham Hotspur GFD team alongside the Reliance Foundation and the Oscar Foundation for 50 players aged between 9-16. Football is used as a tool to provide the youngsters with an opportunity to develop their life skills on and off the pitch.

Nick, Pre-Academy and Development Centre Coordinator back at Hotspur Way, led the session, and explained: “We’re working with boys and girls from the Oscar Foundation, from the local community, giving them a flavour of what we do back home with our young players and, hopefully, a day to remember.”

Ledley King, former skipper and a one-club man, said: “We’ve always said that when we visit a country, we make sure that we get out into the community, sample the culture and try to make sure that we give back and, hopefully, help develop the game here. That’s very important for us. You can see the appetite for football here. The kids are ethusiastic, all smiling and so polite, it’s a pleasure to work with them.”

As always, the Tottenham Hotspur Global team are on the ground delivering coach education workshops and practical sessions with local PE teachers, coaches and aspiring young players.

In the Mumbai leg of the Tottenham Hotspur tour of India, the GFD team delivered…

• a technical session for 50 players across the Under-14 and Under-19 Reliance Foundation Academy teams
• a two-part coach development programme with Reliance Foundation coaches from all around India and the Mumbai District Football Association – a 60-minute theory-based session providing an insight into the Tottenham Hotspur coaching methodology followed by a 75-minute practical session, highlighting the coaching topics on the grass
• a community event with the Reliance Foundation and Oscar Foundation for 50 young players aged 9-16, with special appearances from Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles
• a skills zone at the fan viewing party, interacting with all attendees ahead of Tottenham Hotspurs Premier League match against Aston Villa
