Young sensation Liston Colaco scored seven goals in Salgaocar FC’s 8-2 trashing of the Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools in their U-18 I-League Group A encounter to qualify for the semifinals.
It was Salgaocar FC’s talismanic striker Liston Colaco who scored a sensational seven out of the eight goals plus an assist in the eighth for the Goan side.
Andrus John opened the scoring in the 2nd minute from a cross from Liston, the tall lanky striker met the ball with a lot of power to beat the rival keeper. In the 22nd minute Shayne ran down the flank and curled the ball into the box for Liston who headed home making it 2-0. Liston in the 36th minute was again in the spring of action when he dribbled, twisted and turned away from the defenders and then slotting the ball past the oncoming keeper making it 3-0 as the first half ended with the same scoreline.
The momentum continued in the second half, in the 48th minute Liston was set up by Devendra Murgaocar, Liston scored and claimed his hattrick. When all thought three was enough young Liston was hungry for more as he scored a couple more in the 61st and 72nd minutes making it 6-0.
In the 73rd minute, Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools pulled one back, but as the ball was placed on the centre mark for the restart of play, an alert Liston shot the ball directly into the Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools goal which surprised everyone. The scoreline now read 7-1 and Liston had completed his double hattrick. In the 87th minute Liston again scored with an individual effort making it his seventh and Salgaocar’s eighth and the Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools scored another consolation goal in the 92nd minute as the final score read 8-2 for Salgaocar FC.
