The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) recently inaugurated its new headquarters – and UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has been able to see the impressive premises for himself.
Mr Čeferin was welcomed to the RBFA HQ in Tubize, some 25 kilometres south of the Belgian capital Brussels, by the association’s president Paul Van den Bulck and CEO Peter Bossaert. He also met the Belgian senior men’s national team coach Roberto Martínez.
The premises, which were officially inaugurated last month, are based on the same site as the RBFA Proximus Basecamp national training centre – and means that Belgian football’s heart now beats entirely within the Tubize campus. Both the RBFA headquarters and training centre were constructed with the help of funding from UEFA’s HatTrick development programme.
The Belgian FA’s new headquarters include staff offices for over 230 employees, conference rooms, an auditorium, press conference and media rooms, a VAR studio and a restaurant.
“We are delighted and proud,” said Paul Van den Bulck, “to have been able to greet the UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin to present our basecamp – where all of our national teams are able to prepare for their matches in the best possible conditions – as well as our new federal building, which enables all of the Royal Belgian Football Association’s employees to work in the same inspirational location, one which also respects environmental criteria.”
The centralisation of the RBFA’s administrative and sporting infrastructures at the one single location reinforces a long-term development strategy implemented by the association to establish a ‘centre of excellence’ at the service of Belgian football. In recent years, the association has further evolved into a modern organisation especially committed to pursuing effective good governance principles, and the new federal building symbolises this new era.
In particular, the RBFA have abandoned a stereotypical office environment at its new headquarters and adopted a hybrid working style, with free seating office space for all, giving colleagues the opportunity to meet each other and work on projects together.
Talks in Tubize between Mr Čeferin and senior RBFA officials focussed on a variety of themes. “We profited from this moment together to discuss topics that are important to us,” said Peter Bossaert.
