UEFA verdict: Fan exclusion for Bayern Munich’s next UEFA away game!

The UEFA disciplinary body has decided that FC Bayern Munich may not sell tickets to its away fans at the next away match in one of the UEFA club competitions. The association’s disciplinary body had imposed this penalty on October 16, 2023, but initially suspended it for two years. Due to the use of pyrotechnics and the throwing of objects from FC Bayern’s fan block at the UEFA Champions League away match at Lazio on February 14, 2024, the club has now been informed that this decision will be implemented.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern Munich, said, “This is a very harsh decision. We had already made an urgent appeal to our supporters in December and asked them to refrain from any further pyro activities. As things stand, no fans will be able to accompany us to our next away game in Europe. The team will be missing an important source of support and the fans who always behave correctly will be hit particularly hard. We have requested the reasons for the decision and are looking into the possibility of an appeal.”
