Uruguay legend Diego Forlán Corazzo himself announced on social media his signing for Indian Super League franchise Mumbai City FC as their marquee player for the upcoming third season of the ISL.
With the formal announcement, Forlan ended weeks of speculation of were he could or would sign with earlier this summer talks having been held with Atletico de Kolkata about joining the former ISL champions, but it didn’t work out and also talks with other clubs around the world failed to reach an agreement.
In recent weeks, Mumbai City FC held talks with the former Uruguay record international and today finally the deal was sealed to bring Diego Forlan to the ISL and to Mumbai.
The 37 year old Montevideo-born started at youth level by playing for Peñarol, Danubio and Independiente. It was at Independiente that he made his professional debut and after five seasons left to join EPL giants Manchester United before playing for FC Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, Internacional, Cerezo Osaka, and Peñarol around the world.
