Vancouver FC unveil 2024 alternate cherry blossom kit by Macron!

Vancouver FC have released its new Cherry Blossom Kit, which will serve as the club’s alternate strip for the 2024 Canadian Premier League season. The Cherry Blossom Kit design is inspired by a phenomenon that is characteristic of spring in Vancouver: the blossoming of the approximately 40,000 cherry trees found in the area.

“I am so honoured to present Vancouver’s Cherry Blossom Kit for the 2024 season,” said Stephanie Wood, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development, Vancouver FC.

A key feature of Vancouver’s Cherry Blossom Kit is the pink base which is a colour that is unassociated with VFC and the brand’s identifiable black and red. This element is a significant representation of the kit’s dual purpose as VFC’s version of a Pink Shirt.

“As a club that prides itself on putting the betterment of the community at the forefront of our mission, it was incredibly important to use our Cherry Blossom Kit as an opportunity to give back,” said Wood. “Designing our own Pink Shirt, which was inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and contributing to the Pink Shirt Campaign was an obvious choice.”

The club is honoured to join forces with the nationwide Pink Shirt Day campaign to raise awareness about bullying in schools, workplaces, homes and online, as well as raise funds to support program’s that foster children’s healthy self-esteem.

“The social movement of Pink Shirt Day creates opportunity for conversations and awareness about the impacts of bullying behaviour and the importance of “Lifting Each Other Up” with kindness,” said Sara Dubois-Phillips, Executive Director, Pink Shirt Day. “By supporting this year’s campaign, you are funding organizations and programs that promote healthy self-esteem, empathy, compassion, and kindness.”

Vancouver FC is proud to donate a portion of the proceeds from each Cherry Blossom Kit sold this season to the Pink Shirt Day campaign.

“No one is immune to bullying, including our own club and players,” said Wood. “It is an issue that transcends soccer, and the Pink Shirt Day campaign is a movement we are proud to support both on the field in our Cherry Blossom Kit and off of it.”

“How we treat each other matters, not just on Pink Shirt Day but every day,” said Dubois-Phillips.

The launch of the Cherry Blossom Kit comes nearly three weeks after VFC announced its new Eagle Kit, the club’s primary jersey for the 2024 CPL Season. Both kits were produced in collaboration with Macron, the official kit provider for the CPL.
