VfL Bochum release head coach Thomas Letsch with immediate effect!

VfL Bochum 1848 have parted ways with head coach Thomas Letsch with immediate effect. With him, his assistant coach Jan Fießer will also be released.

Patrick Fabian, sporting director at VfL Bochum 1848, explains the reasons, “We are aware of the merits of Thomas Letsch and Jan Fießer and would like to thank them expressly for their work. The emotional moments, especially after staying in the league last season, will always be associated with their names. In our current situation, we are no longer convinced that we can do it in the current constellation.”

VfL sporting director Marc Lettau added, “We haven’t managed to stabilise ourselves in the long term and make the last few games as successful as we could have been. Staying in the league can still be achieved under one’s own steam. The team has the quality to survive in the Bundesliga, which is why we want to provide a decisive impetus for successful relegation through the move.”

“I took over VfL Bochum last season at the bottom of the table with just one point and together we managed to stay in the league thanks to a sensational performance. I will never forget this and it is not only this special experience that will always connect me with VfL, the city and the fantastic fans. I wish VfL Bochum all the best for the future – so that they will be in a non-relegation place at the end of the season, as they are currently at the moment, and thus continue to play in the Bundesliga next season,” said Thomas Letsch from Bochum.

VfL Bochum will inform about the replacement of the coach in due course.
