Yannick Gerhardt extends VfL Wolfsburg contract!

Long-serving midfielder Yannick Gerhardt has committed his future to VfL Wolfsburg after agreeing an early contract extension through to June 30, 2025. “The fact that one of our longest-serving players has made such a clear commitment to the club is a strong statement for the future,” said VfL managing director Marcel Schäfer. “Yannick is not only synonymous with passion and reliability on the pitch, he also embodies the club’s values off the pitch in an impressive way and fully identifies with our path. We’re delighted that we can continue to plan with him.”

Gerhardt is now in his eighth season at VfL after joining the Wolves from 1.FC Köln in summer 2016. He has scored 21 goals in 232 competitive appearances for the club in the Bundesliga, the relegation playoff, DFB Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The 30-year-old left-footer, who made his senior Germany debut in November 2016, has found the net three times in 19 league and cup outings this season, although he missed the recent game with FC Augsburg through suspension.

“I’ve had some incredibly exciting and eventful years at VfL so far, but my journey here is far from over,” said Gerhardt. “It goes without saying that I’m incredibly settled in Wolfsburg. Particularly now, in these troubled times on the pitch, it feels great to be able to make a statement like this. I’m really looking forward to being part of this team in the future.”
