Young Hyderabad FC aim to impress against Punjab FC at the Maidaan!

After an unlucky defeat in Bengaluru, Hyderabad FC will look to put in a stronger performance against Punjab FC in their next league fixture.

The young guns take on Punjab FC at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad on Tuesday, February 27.

Hyderabad FC are currently 12th in the league table and are in need of a positive result for a boost The visitors, on the other hand, will fight for three points to keep their hopes of playoff qualification alive for the season.

Staikos Vergetis’ side registered a couple of crucial victories in the lead-up to this game. The front three of Luka Majcen, Mehdi Talal and Wilmar Jordan Gil will be a big threat for the young Hyderabad FC side.

The ex-Hyderabad FC duo of Nikhil Prabhu and Sahil Tavora (out on loan) has also been effective in the middle of the park for Punjab this season.

Hyderabad FC Head Coach Thangboi Singto expects a tough game against Punjab on Tuesday.

“Punjab FC have given themselves a good account in the ISL, and have players foreign players that can win games for their side” he said.

“But the hunger and desire shown by our young side who have stepped up recently, will mean that we will give them a tough fight,” added Coach Thangboi.

With Hyderabad FC skipper Joao Victor back from suspension, this midfield battle could be where the game is decided.

Punjab FC’s direct approach will test Muhammed Rafi, Sajad Parray and Alex Saji (back from suspension) along with Laxmikant Kattimani on goal.

However, the likes of Mark Zothanpuia, Makan Chothe, Abdul Rabeeh and Ramhlunchhunga can cause probleems. Chhunga, who is fresh from his first ISL goal, will also test the Punjab FC backline, who have had their troubles this season.

“We want to prove ourselves so we give everything in every game,” said Ramhlunchhunga, talking to the media ahead of the game.

“Our squad is young and hungry. We want to win, so we will give our everything, again,” the youngster added.

With a youthful squad that is fast growing in confidence, Thangboi Singto’s side will look to put in another impressive performance, to impress the Yellow and Black this Tuesday.

The game kicks off at 7:30pm IST on Tuesday, February 27. It be telecasted live on Sports 18 and VH1, with free streaming on Jio Cinema.
