Youngster Yannick Eduardo signs professional contract with RB Leipzig!

RB Leipzig’s Under-19 player Yannick Eduardo signed his first professional contract with the club on Tuesday, which happened to be his eighteenth birthday. Eduardo’s contract with RBL will run until summer 2027.

RB Leipzig sporting director said, “Yannick Eduardo is a promising talent who has a lot of potential. He’s good in the air, has a great left foot and provides all the attacking threat you need as a striker. In the eighteen months that he’s been at the club, he’s performed very well at youth level and has scored a lot of goals.”

“As a result of these consistently fantastic performances, he regularly takes part in first-team training sessions. He was also included the matchday squad for our Bundesliga games against Frankfurt and Leverkusen. The important thing now is that he keeps his foot on the gas, remains eager to learn and continues to work on himself. With this contract, we want to show that we’ll be by Yannick’s side as he takes his next step.”

The Dutch striker, who also has a Czech background, arrived at Leipzig from NEC Nijmegen’s U-17 side in July 2022. Yannick Eduardo showed his quality straight away, scoring 11 goals in 12 U-17 Bundesliga matches. He was rewarded for these performances at the end of last season with a call-up to the U-19s, where he bagged twice in ten matches.

The striker has really stood out this campaign. Eduardo has scored seven goals and registered three assists for RBL’s U-19 team. He has been even more impressive in the UEFA Youth League, finding the back of the net five times in five matches. Eduardo was a key reason why the club reached the knock-out stage of the competition for the first time. He currently sits top of the scoring charts in this year’s tournament.

After Yannick travelled with the first team for the winter training camp in La Manga and played for 23 minutes in our friendly against FC St. Gallen, he was named in the matchday squad for our first two Bundesliga games of the new year.

Eduardo has played three matches for the Netherlands at Under-18 level, scoring once.
