Churchill Brothers name squad for I-League comeback!

Former I-League champions Churchill Brothers SC are back in the top tier, but they were late into the transfer market as less than a month before kick off they got the positive feedback from the AIFF on their return.

Churchill Brothers managed to sign up 21 players so far as they face Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC away on Sunday, January 8 evening.

Signings are still on with some well known stalwarts set to be roped in, but if one looks at the signings so far then some former Indian internationals like Clifford Miranda, Rowilson Rodrigues and Adil Khan stand out by name besides young talent like Brandon Fernandes.

“We have re-entered the arena very, very late. Our fans will understand our plight. Yet, we are determined to put up a valiant fight despite the odds being heavily stacked against us,” said club CEO Valanka Alemao.

“We have had very, very little time in assembling the players and then almost no time to have combined practices. It is pretty tough to start from scratch. But for the love of football we have taken it up as a serious challenge, an opportunity. We need the support of everyone and especially of our fans as we begun the process of re-building our team. It will take some time for us to come up with creditable performances, but till then we shall hold the fort and give everything. We shall never give up,” summed up Valanka.
