1.FC Köln & Davie Selke extend contract until 2026!

Davie Selke has extended his contract with 1.FC Köln until June 30, 2026. The striker joined 1.FC Köln during the 2022/23 Winter Break and scored five goals in 17 games.

Davie Selke feels at home with 1.FC Köln and, as a result, has decided to put pen to paper on a new three-year deal. The 28-year-old striker has been with FC since January 2023 and despite injury issues, has shown that he is the hoped for forward for Steffen Baumgart’s team. Selke has not only shown his goalscoring ability on the pitch but also proven to be a leader as well.

1.FC Köln managing director Christian Keller said, “Davie doesn’t just fit in well as a player but also as a person to FC, to how we play and to our values. He goes forward on and off the pitch and knows that he still hasn’t reached the end of his path. That makes you want more, and the contract extension ahead of time is the right consequence of that. We are really pleased that Davie has gone with us and wants to continue that path for the long term.”

Davie Selke said, “I think that everything has gone as planned for what we had talked about before my move to Köln. I like the way football is played here and that fits perfectly, at least from my point of view, to how I play. From the start, I was really excited by 1.FC Köln – from the fans and the atmosphere at home games. The coaching staff and the lads in the dressing room have always given me a good feeling since I arrived at FC. The extension until 2026 is a sign of trust from both sides. I have found my sporting home here and will continue to work hard for the success of the team.”

Davie Selke was born on January 20, 1995 in Schorndorf in Baden-Württemberg. As a youngster, Selke went through the academy at Stuttgarter Kickers and VfB Stuttgart, between 2009 and 2012 he continued his development at TSG Hoffenheim before joining Werder Bremen in January 2013. Selke made his Bundesliga debut as an 18-year-old in the 2013-14 season. In the following season, Selke was a key man in the team and scored nine goals in 30 Bundesliga games. He then moved to Leipzig and ended the year as their top goalscorer, scoring 10 times and playing a crucial role in their promotion to the Bundesliga. He then made 21 appearances (four goals) in the top flight for Leipzig. Ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, he moved to Hertha BSC (114 Bundesliga games, 19 goals) and returned to Werder Bremen on loan between January 2020 and June 2021.

In the Winter Break this season, he made the move to 1.FC Köln and initially signed a deal until 2024.
