1.FC Köln extend Jeff Chabot contract!

Jeff Chabot will remain with 1.FC Köln. In January 2022, the centre-back joined 1.FC Köln initially on loan from Sampdoria Genoa and he will now join FC permanently. The 25-year-old has signed a deal until summer 2026.

1.FC Köln managing director Christian Keller said, “Jeff didn’t have an easy start at FC and has made a very strong step in his development – especially since the Winter Break. He is now a stabilising factor in our defence and fits very well into our team as a person. We are really pleased that we could sign him permanently. In this context, we want to thank Sampdoria for the constructive, professional transfer discussions.”

Jeff Chabot said, “As I came here about 18 months okay, I needed a little time to get used to things. I feel very at home here, in Köln and with FC. The team has played a big role in that. I haven’t experienced that in this way before: the way we stand together on the pitch but also off it – that gives me confidence. Therefore, I am very happy to have signed here for another three years.”

Jeff Chabot was born on February 12, 1998 in Hanau. The 1.95m tall defender made his first footballing steps with Eintracht Frankfurt. He played for RB Leipzig in the Under-19s and played through all youth national teams up until the U-21s (four appearances). In summer 2017, Chabot joined Sparta Rotterdam. He then moved to FC Groningen and then to Sampdoria.

So far, Chabot has played 22 games in the Bundesliga for FC and made one DFB-Pokal appearance. Since the start of 2023, Jeff Chabot has started every game under Steffen Baumgart.
