1.FC Köln sign midfielder Jacob Steen Christensen!

1.FC Köln have signed Jacob Steen Christensen from FC Nordsjaelland. The defensive midfielder, who has played for all the Danish youth teams, has signed a deal until June 30, 2026.

The 21 year old finished as runner-up in the Danish Superliga with FC Nordsjaelland last season and joins 1.FC Köln on a free transfer. At FC Nordsjaelland, the hard-working defensive midfielder was not just a key figure but also vice-captain for his team. In the Superliga, Christensen featured in 21 of 22 regular season games, nine in the Championship Round and seven in the Danish Cup. Overall, despite being just 21, Christensen has already 158 first-team games (two goals, 13 assists) under his belt for Nordsjaelland, including European fixtures.

1.FC Köln managing director Christian Keller said, “On the one hand, Jacob Christensen a very young player but, on the other hand, possesses the experience of over 150 professional matches. Not just because of that, but also because of his technical ability and his skill in dictating the build-up, we believe that he can make the step to the Bundesliga. First and foremost, Jacob will have to get used to the high intensity here. Our coaching staff will prepare him as well as possible for that.”

Jacob Christensen explained, “I’m really looking forward to my time at 1. FC Köln. FC will be my first club outside of Denmark and I’m very excited about playing in the Bundesliga. The passionate football that Köln play is something I like and I’m convinced that I can continue to develop well here.”

Jacob Steen Christensen was born on June 25, 2001 in Copenhagen. His first club was AB Gladsaxe. At the age of 12, he joined FC Nordsjaelland’s academy and made the step up to professional football there. At the age of 17, he made his debut in Denmark’s Superliga.
