10 U-18s step-up to AFC Bournemouth development squad!

Ten AFC Bournemouth under-18s have stepped up to be part of next season’s development squad.

Progressing is the majority of the second-year scholars from this campaign’s under-18 team.

Three of the ten players are defenders in Archie Harris, Finn Tonks and Max Kinsey-Wellings.

Ben Winterburn, Kian Tydeman, Lewis Brown and Toure Williams are the midfielders amongst the under-18s progressing.

The forward line is then bolstered by the attacking talent of Baylin Johnson, Michael Dacosta Gonzalez and Daniel Adu-Adjei.

Recent signing Balraj Singh will also accompany the under-18s stepping up to the older age group.

Alongside the 11 under-18s, next season’s development squad will be comprised of seven players in the team this term.

Two are defenders in centre-back Owen Bevan, who spent the campaign on loan with Yeovil Town after making his Premier League debut against Liverpool, and French full-back Noa Boutin, who can also play on the wing.

Midfielders Dominic Sadi, Ferdinand Okoh and Jack Wadham will also be remaining part of Alan Connell’s team.

The list of seven current development squad players remaining is then completed by striker Euan Pollock and goalkeeper Billy Terrell.

Development squad manager Alan Connell said on the squad: “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve managed to secure the services of our best young talent – both the players that were already with the development squad and now the under-18s that are coming up.

“For everyone to commit their futures to the club is really pleasing and is something that we’re really keen on continuing as we enter a new and exciting era for the club.

“To keep hold of these players is great news for everybody and we’ve taken forward a lot of the under-18s because it’s a group that we believe in, and they’ve had success. There are some real stand-out individuals in there.

“We’ll be a younger group next season for sure, with the majority of the squad being under 19, but I think that’s exciting both for the present and the future.

“It’s a really exciting group that I’m really looking forward to working with again next season. We can’t wait to get going with pre-season.”

A further seven players will be departing the Cherries’ academy when their current agreements come to an end.

Those leaving are Ollie Camis, Josh Popoola, Marcus Daws, Chris Francis, Matt Burgess, Tarik Gidaree and Brooklyn Genesini.

Connell commented: “It’s always difficult seeing players leave the football club, and we wish them well as they continue their careers elsewhere.”
