2016 Federation Cup: Favourites & surprise semifinalists ready for action!

Federation CupThe Hero Federation Cup which kicked-off on Saturday, April 30 with the eight top Teams from the Hero I-League being eligible to play in it now has reached the semifinal stage.

And there were a number of upsets and surprises under the new home and away format in the quarterfinal stage. Defending champions Bengaluru FC suffered a surprise exit against I-League relegated Aizawl FC losing both matches away and home, while Shillong Lajong FC needed extra-time to defeat former champions East Bengal Club, but record champions Mohun Bagan easily beat Salgaocar FC 7-2 on aggregate, while Sporting Clube de Goa scored two 1-0 wins over Mumbai FC.

Now we have reached the semifinal stage which will also be in a home and away format with the Final to be played on May 21 at a to be confirmed neutral venue.
