Mohammedan Sporting Club outdid local boys Salgaocar FC by two goals in the Nike Premier Cup – U15 Youth League fixture held at the Nagoa Sports ground. Surajuddin Munshi scored in the 45th minute and 47th minute to seal the on-going misery of a young Greens side.
Both teams made their intentions clear as they proceeded with much gusto towards the opposition’s goal. Ribhav Sardessai had his 1st attempt from 30 yards out but sent the ball well-wide of the goal. In less than 4 minutes the Mohammedan Sporting goal was under attack as Aaron Barreto and Levy Pereira charged through their defences with brilliant passing only to the disappointment of fans as the latter failed to score. The Kolkata outfits inform striker Surajuddin had his first clear shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match but his attempt hit the woodwork.
Mohammedan Sporting custodian Aftab Alam’s services were called upon as Fhezer Gomes sent a long-ranger from 25 yards out which the former collected. Surajuddin got his name on the scoresheet in the first half’s dying minutes as Giasuddin sent a cross in from the right for the striker to put it past Antonio D’Silva. The teams headed in for half-time as Mohammedan Sporting led the proceedings by a solitary goal.
The second half didn’t begin too well for the Goan outfit as Munshi completed his brace in less than 2 minutes of game-time. After this both teams struggled to come up with any good moves to unsettles the opposing citadel . The game ended with Mohammedan Sporting scoring a 2-0 victory over Salgaocar FC.
