2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup – India: MatchDay 3 – Round-up!

The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India continued today, October 8 with Group E and Group F matches taking place in Guwahati and Kolkata.

Matchday 3 turned out to be an entertaining goal-scoring festival to the delight of football fans in Guwahati and Kolkata.

France hammered debutants New Caledonia 7-1 in a Group E match played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. The French team lead 6-0 at half-time and conserved their energy after the breather.

Japan were also on fire in the second Group E encounter of the day as Keito Nakamura scored a hattrick in the 6-1 win against Honduras.

Jadon Sancho hogged the limelight in England’s 4-0 win against Chile in a Group F match at the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata. Sancho, who recently signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund, scored a brace and provided an assist for his side.

Meanwhile, Iraq and Mexico played out a 1-1 draw in the second Group F match. Mohammed Dawood gave the Iraqis the lead, but Roberto de la Rosa managed to pull one back for the Mexicans.

The tournament will continue tomorrow with two Group A matches in Delhi (Ghana vs USA, India vs Colombia) and two Group B matches in Navi Mumbai (Turkey vs Mali, Paraguay vs New Zealand).
