2023 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup: Hosseinabadi hails Iran’s determination & focus!

Iran defeated Japan in the 2023 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup – Thailand final on Sunday with a focused and determined approach, according to head coach Ali Naderi Hosseinabadi.

Iran put on a flawless display as they dominated the match from start to finish against a previously undefeated Japanese team at the Jomtien Beach Arena, with the Central Asian side cruising to a 6-0 win for a record-equalling third title..

Hosseinabadi praised his players for putting on their best performance and attributed their success to the hard work in training.

“I’m so happy we won the title,” said Hosseinabadi. “This is the culmination of one year’s worth of hard training and I want to thank all of our players.

“They are the best in this tournament, and we dedicate this championship to our families in Iran.”

“We analysed the Japanese team and saw their weaknesses in some positions, like goalkeeping. We came up with a plan and used it to our advantage to score goals.

“We continued playing the same throughout the match as Japan did not change their approach and that worked well for us.”

Iran oozed confidence throughout the 36 minutes of action as the goals poured in through Movahed Mohammadpour, Moslem Mesigar, Mohammadali Mokhtari along with Ali Mirshekari who starred with a brace, while Takumi Uesato scored an own goal.

In his assessment of his players’ performance, Hosseinabadi said their determination to achieve their goal was key to their success.

“Iran’s quality as a team is not too far off from this result. Winning the title was not too hard as our focus was good, and that’s why we were able to become champions.

“Our players came together as a unit and worked really hard and they believed in themselves from the start of this tournament until the very end. They were confident of achieving success and that is the secret.”
