2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup – Round of 16 pairings & schedule confirmed!

Following the conclusion of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup Round One, CONCACAF has confirmed the pairings and schedule for the tournament’s second Round. The eight Round of 16 home-and-away series will take place from March 5-7 (first legs) and March 12-14 (second legs) and will determine the eight clubs advancing to the Quarterfinals.

The CONCACAF Champions Cup 59th edition, revamped to include 27 clubs and five rounds, kicked off the first week of February and included four weeks of epic on-field battles between 22 clubs. Of the 22, eleven emerged victorious and have joined the five pre-seeded in the Round of 16.

These eleven clubs are (in alphabetical order): CD Guadalajara (MEX), CF Monterrey (MEX), Club América (MEX), CS Herediano (CRC), FC Cincinnati (USA), Houston Dynamo FC (USA), Nashville SC (USA), New England Revolution (USA), Orlando City SC (USA), Philadelphia Union (USA), and Tigres UANL (MEX).

The five clubs pre-seeded into the Round of 16 are (in alphabetical order):

  • 2023 CONCACAF Central American Cup champion – LD Alajuelense (CRC)
  • 2023 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup champion – SV Robinhood (SUR)
  • 2023 Leagues Cup champion – Inter Miami FC (USA)
  • 2022/23 Liga MX champion with the most accumulated points – CF Pachuca (MEX)
  • 2023 MLS Cup champions – Columbus Crew (USA)

The Round of 16 pairings and each club’s path to the Final was determined at the competition’s official draw on December 13, 2023, and are as follows (bracket is available below):

  • R16 M1: CF Pachuca vs Philadelphia Union
  • R16 M2: SV Robinhood vs CS Herediano
  • R16 M3: Club America vs CD Guadalajara
  • R16 M4: LD Alajuelense vs New England Revolution
  • R16 M5: Columbus Crew vs Houston Dynamo FC
  • R16 M6: Tigres UANL vs Orlando City SC
  • R16 M7: CF Monterrey vs FC Cincinnati
  • R16 M8: Inter Miami CF vs Nashville SC

For the Round of 16, the five pre-seeded clubs and the three highest-ranked Round One clubs will host the second-leg matches. Starting with the Quarterfinals, the highest-ranked club (based on the competition’s cumulative table) in each pairing will host the second-leg match. Similarly, the highest-ranked club of the two finalists will host the single-leg Final on June 2, 2024.

FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP

In the previous edition of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Club Leon of Mexico won its first continental title after defeating LAFC 3-1 in the Final on aggregate. By winning the title, Club Leon secured a berth in this year’s FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia and the 2025 expanded edition. The 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup winner will join Club Leon (2023), Seattle Sounders FC (2022), and CF Monterrey (2021) as the region’s four representatives in the 32-club 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
