Mizoram Premier League leaders Aizawl FC extended the gap at the top of the table with a 2-1 victory against FC Venghnuai on Friday evening.
The defending champions were able to overcome a stiff challenge from Venghnuai courtesy of two penalties in the second half. Lalchhawnkima netted in both instances completing a comeback victory.
FC Venghnuai had taken the lead in the first half from a strike by Malsawmzela in the 21st minute.
Victory sees Aizawl FC at the top with 16 points and Venghnuai in third with 11.
